Oxi Lox – Photoshoot // Believe In Yourself

February 21, 2017 Jasemine Denise Photography 2 min read 1 Comment
Oxi Lox is a walking life lesson that everyone deserves to know. She’s not just rainbow hair and really awesome badass watercolor ink. She’s an inspiration.  When I was little, I was obsessed with the song Believe in Yourself from Sesame Street. Don’t worry, this is relevant. Growing up, I wanted to be this cool person and it was hard. The world has no map pack on how much is too much or who will believe in you, but you learn a valuable lesson the moment you make the decision that you’re going to be yourself. When I first met Oxi, I was in awe.. Who wouldn’t be? I may not have believed in myself as strongly as I do now, but best believe I believed in Oxi.

Oxi Lox // Believe In Yourself.

If you’ve never been to a music festival or a tattoo convention, chances are you probably haven’t ran into Oxi yet. Spoiler Alert: She’s awesome. For some people, it’s the rainbow hair. For others, it’s the bubbly personality that she gives off every single time you see her. For me, it’s the way she stands and walks.

I don’t mean the way that she walks in her steps… I mean, the way that she walks as in her demeanor. She’s a proud woman. She walks around with a sense of believe in herself, even when she’s unsure of herself. Watching her at conventions, there’s always chaos around her. Yet, she’s got confidence in her mission… One time, I caught it.. A glimpse of nervousness… a slight tooth sinking into her lip, but when our eyes met, she smiled.

That smiled shattered whatever fear I thought I’d had in me. In that moment, I decided that Oxi Lox, this woman about to put a permanent tattoo into my skin was my hero. She was human but she was also heroic. How many women do you know with their heads held high, dressed in a panda jacket and a rainbow corset…

I only know one.

Wanna Meet The Infamous Oxi Lox?

I don’t blame you, if I could meet her all over again… I would. She’ll be in my city again in March. So if you’re a Chicagoan looking for an awesome tattoo artist, book a session with her! IF you want to book an appointment with her, email her at oxitattoos@gmail.com. Tell here she’s the best.

Also, if you’re looking to book a photoshoot, don’t hesitate to contact me! Believe in yourself, be yourself, and be proud of who you are.

I travel as a photographer, I write novels , and I fan girl a lot. I have an unnecessary attachment to all things 80s punk, 90s hip hop, and girl power. I typically write in the same tone that I talk in so you should probably be prepared for that. Just saying.

I know and love her more than she will ever know. She is the living definition of confidence and love. She instills her strength to everyone she meets. She not only believes in herself, but believes in you. Her art, love of nature and respect for life show all that there is a pot of gold at the end of every rainbow and hope in every raindrops. I know because I am proud to be her friend and mother. Thank you Jasmine for this beautiful piece.
