It was just a few seconds after the first session with Roma that we immediately scheduled her second one. That’s always a major compliment to me but it meant more because not only did she want to work with me again, but she also wanted to work with the makeup artist MUAYV as well. Even bigger and better, she brought an amazing and equally driven male model, Robert Suarez. Let me tell you that working with two impressive and down to earth people becomes so easy when you feel completely chilled out around them. This shoot proved that for me. As a team, each of us combined created the ultimate day of the dead wedding.
Before The Session
Working with your makeup artist is a key part of making a shoot work. In the words of someone I hold very dear, “Team work makes the dream work.” Not only was I up early for this session, I shot the entire session in my Superman pajamas! Even with being exhausted, watching MUAYV apply the Sugar Skull look was fun! We had pinned a billion looks so I was excited to see which one she picked!
Sidenote: I’ve learned that there are photographers out there that don’t allow their clients to take pictures/selfies during their shoot! It blew my mind! I would never! I mean, come on! How else would I be able to get photos like this?
Once the makeup was applied, game faces were on! Just so you guys are aware, this entire session was shot in a cemetery over the course of an hour. It’s not a real wedding but it’s meant to portray the entire ceremony of a day of the dead wedding. We’re talking “prep”, portraits, ceremony, and first dance! There are no people outside of the bride and groom… Mostly because these two undeads don’t have any family or friends. Nonetheless, pretending to get married was something that Roma and Robert pulled off perfectly. Check it out!
So, what’d you think? Absolutely adorable, right? I just couldn’t get enough of Robert and Roma. We stuck around for a little laughs and life as Yesenia (The lovely lady makeup wonder) got the makeup off of our poor model’s faces. You can find some pretty awesome behind the scenes photos from this session on my Facebook page!
Until next time, what’s your dream wedding like?
