Note: If enough people badger Heavy Horns and Trish’s Hoods, they may do a collaboration and that will literally just make all my dreams come true. Don’t hesitate to tell the whole world you wanna see a patched up punk hood! I need that to happen! It’ll be a break through in punk fashion so don’t say no!
ClaustroClothic Punk Fashion #45: Heavy Hoods
The Background of Heavy / Hoods.
In my last Fan Friday, you’ve heard me rave about Trish’s Hoods. Trish’s Hoods is a Canadian based handmade hood business owned by the lovely Trish. This woman single handedly makes all the hoods you see featured on her Facebook page and ships them internationally. Heavy Hoods is a Chicago based punk patching, battle vest rocking, multipurpose service that specializes in everything from studding to patching, to running workshops. As a matter of fact we had the creator, Spencer, hosting a workshop on the south side last week. It was phenomenal. He had members taking notes, immediately requesting handmade patches, etc.
Both Heavy Horns and Trish’s Hoods are taking orders both custom and basic so don’t hesitate to slide on over to those Facebook pages!
What inspired this outfit?
Well can I just say “great craftsmanship?” Not too many people are aware that my favorite color is purple mostly because I only had purple hair for like five seconds. The greatest part about this is that Spencer remembered which is why my jacket is composed out of purple patches and purple studs.
Upon seeing that it was like a light bulb… “Purple hood, purple jacket… BRAIN BLAST!” Immediately, this outfit became pieced together with the exception of the plaid pants which just kinda became a thing.
FYI: For everyone who’s been asking, my plaid pants are Tripps and are no longer created through the line. I purchased them (and a second pair of the same exact pants) from Ebay.
A Close up Of The Outfit:
So, instead of telling you how I felt when I first put it on, I wanted to show you the workmanship of the jacket! Prepare to be amazed at the detail of the patches. He included a bunch that I asked for and then a few that I didn’t. (Which made it all the more awesome.) There’s the Supernatural symbol, the strange music symbol, the Chicago flag and a bunch more.)
What’s the best part about this outfit?
Every piece of it is handmade. (With the exception of the pants.) The hood, the patches, the bag… It’s all created by awesome! All together it just fits so perfectly too. You may recognize the bag from my back to school ClaustroClothic. (love that bag) The second best part about this outfit is how freaking warm it is! You wouldn’t believe that I went out like this in 29 degree weather and absolutely no part of me was cold. I rocked a fleece legging/knee high sock combo beneath the plaid pants so it was really, REALLY warm but other than that.. it rained that day and that hood was absolutely amazing.
Tell me about your Dream Heavy Hoods Combo!
So if you had the chance to win or be gifted an outfit similar to this one, how would it look? What color would your hood be? What kind of patches would you rock on your jacket? Write them in the comments below and I’ll submit the entire list to Trish and Spencer because they love suggestions. It keeps them going. SO DO I! So if you have a suggestion ClaustroClothic, it can be anything! Submit it in the comments below and watch me bring it to life!
Well, until next time… This fashionista is Hasta La Vista.
Wait, before I go! Here’s pictures of Spencer doing his thing hosting his very own workshop and photos of me rocking my outfit at my trip to the Chicago Shakespearan Theater to see The Retar Crew perform a rap rendition of the popular “Christmas Carol.” Definitely can’t wait to write you guys a fan friday about that!
