Hey guys, this is the first part of my “Stay warm in the winter” ClaustroClothic section. I’m just discovering how to dress myself in the winter so take this journey with me. Today, we tackle strega fashion. Strega is an Italian word for “witch.” Reminder: you don’t have to be pagan, Wiccan, or practice witchcraft to enjoy the style. I certainly do not do any of those things. This look was created in the spirit of fun and isn’t meant to offend anyone or any culture.
ClaustroClothic #41: Strega Fashion
I just discovered the strega fashion side of Tumblr. If you have a Tumblr and you don’t think you know what this fashion is but you know who Psychara is, you’re well on your way. Other popular strega fashion gurus to follow include shortcuttothestars for my ladies and sepp-greywolf for the guys. There’s also a really dope Strega Lookbook Tumblr you can follow.
What inspired this outfit?
Truth be told, when I ventured down the rabbithole of creating this look, I didn’t see too many people of color. However, I did see a lot of elements from my wardrobe in the style. I liked how the trend included layers which was something that I was learning to utilize in the colder seasons. Therefore, I was like.. “Let’s do this.”
What part of the outfit was the most challenging?
The most challenging part of this outfit was the layers. I created this look in 30-something degree weather so it was like a do or die effort for me. The scary part about it was that I had no idea how many layers would be too many layers in strega fashion.
It was also hard finding my socks but that’s just because I always lose them.
Favorite Part of This Outfit?
Honestly, any excuse for me to wear my Demonia Boxers shoes makes a good favorite outfit. These are really great for the winter not only because they complete that killer goth look but also because they are warm and when you step in snow, you don’t completely flood your shoes. These were great!
