It’s summer fashion.. well. Almost. It’s still sort of spring weather, but it’s summer feeling. Before I even start this blog, I want to set a record straight going forward. Going into the summer of 2020, I have one challenge to finish out this ClaustroClothic archives... to never promote Dolls Kill again. If you don’t know, the company had a huge scandal where the owner Shoddy Lynn made some off color comments about the black lives matter movement. DollsKill’s response? We fucked up. No, I’m serious. That’s literally what they said. After seeing that display of lack of professionalism, I finally made the decision to show off all the alternative fashion finds that do promote black models, support the cause, and are here for you. So this summer, your summer fashion comes with some consciousness.
ClaustroClothic #14: Pastel World // Summer Fashion
What Inspired This Outfit?
This look feels more fall fashion to me, honestly. I’ll get to that later. I long decided in the winter, that pink and purple were gonna be my summer colors. My natural hair is currently half pink/half purple, and I hand dyed this wig myself. So with the knowledge that I love coordinating my outfit with my hair, I went for something that was pastel.. Something soft, something that was pink and purple galore!
How I felt when I put it On:
Well first, I was kinda nervous. It reminded me a lot of outfit #23, which was good but looking back.. that was a lot of pink. My goal was to have enough pink to be coordinated, but enough purple to offset that pink.
What was the most expensive/best part of the outfit?
Toxic Vision officially released a new line of bullet pants, that are different colors! Toxic Vision has been one of my favorite brands since my daughter somehow managed to enter me into a giveaway which I won for a pair of matte black bullet pants. They fit like a glove and I fell in love. So, when the checkout opened for a purple pair, I literally had four alarms set. They’re not sold out by the way, you could snag it!
They’re also velvet so you know they’re super warm. That’s why makes this sort of fall but I don’t care, I love them. I’ll wear them. They’re easy to wash!
Let’s talk Details!
My vegan leather Emalia collar is a favorite from SKG Designs, I have it in two different colors. The only collar that could touch that is the new Onyx collar, which I have in custom color: Pink and purple. I am almost wore it instead of the Emalia but I thought it’d be funny to wear the Emalia since Amelia, (strawberrysmirk) is the one who gifted me the shirt I’m wearing.
One more thing before I go..
As we fight for the equality of our country, for brown an black, women and men, creators and community.. please remember not to immerse yourself in the bad. You’re allowed to take a step back, to just take a deep breath and say “I can’t do this today. I need to unplug and come back better tomorrow.”
The news doesn’t have to be on twenty our seven for you to know what’s going on. You are strong even when you feel weak. You are always fighting, just by breathing.. giving.. being. Take a deep breath, taste it, love it, be it. I know it’s hard to imagine doing your day to day stuff with everything that’s going on the world. You may even feel an overwhelming sense of guilt.
You are allowed to take a break. Allow yourself to feel the goodness left in this world. The fight will still be here tomorrow. I love you and I’m proud of you.
