Bec and Angelo // Chicago Photographer Jasemine Denise

I say it all the time, that I love love. Being a Chicago photographer has changed the way I’ve looked at love. Seriously. I’ve come across every sort of relationship you could think of. There are things about love that never change though. The way a couple shifts nervously for their first photoshoot together. The way they quest for direction but as soon as you’ve snapped the first picture and given them a little space, they’re in their own little world… They’re in love. I never eavesdrop on the voices sweetly talking to one another. I just know that they feel safe. All that being said, this Chicago photographer is proud to bring you…

Bec and Angelo // Love

No matter how long it is, when a couple tells me how long they’ve been together, I’m proud. It typically sounds like I’m shocked because I’m overwhelmed with pride. For Bec and Angelo, it’s been four years. They’re a fun couple. You could seen the connection from a mile away.

It’s one of the most beautiful moments I’ve ever seen when you see people just disappear into their own world, a world they created together.

Aren’t they beautiful?

Gabbie and Raymond | Engagement Photoshoot

My friends are getting married! After seeing Raymond get down on one knee last year, Gabbie and Raymond’s engagement photoshoot has finally come! Like Bri and Jacob, this lovely couple has been like family to me for years. It was my honor to do their engagement photoshoot. Remember: You can book an engagement photoshoot with me anytime by filling out the booking form on my website. Yes, I do travel.

I’ve had the blessing of knowing Gabbie and Raymond personally. They have that type of relationship that I’ve always felt was one to look up to. They’ve got a little bit of everything. Playfulness, humor, love, support, and a pinch of tough love. Over the years, I’ve watched them evolve each other and themselves.

The thing that I really love about Gabbie and Raymond is that neither of them assumed the ‘house spouse’ role. They both go to work, they both take each other on romantic dates and buy gifts, they both look out each other.  As they move on to the next phase of their life together, they will be doing so as a team. A unit and union created out of pure love and devotion to each other’s happiness.

I couldn’t be more proud of them. Seriously.

This time next year, Gabbie and Raymond will be married. Will you?

Happily congratulating Gabbie and Raymond again and again. I can’t wait to photograph your wedding!

Ari and V – Boudoir Photography

Please don’t let Trump confuse you. Trans life still matter. They will always matter. I’m not trying to push my beliefs down you throat, but I wanted to come to you today to show you one of my favorite boudoir photography sessions of all time. You’ve seen V here a hundred times now, but have you met her partner Ari? He is one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met, and this session is one of the dearest ones I hold close to my heart. Some things are just too beautiful not to share.

Ari and V // boudoir photography session

I remember when I first saw the facebook announcement that V had met her match. It seemed quick, but you could also see in the smile of the selfie that she posted that they just knew.

I myself met Ari not too long later, and I saw it clear as day. These two are in love. During the shoot Ari sat in on, he was nothing but kind and down to earth, even screaming “Yassss” every time his partner slayed a look. It never occurred to me that Ari was any different than anyone else, except for the unique way he knew how to scream yasss to gas me up.

In the recent events of politics, I’ve seen a lot of my so-called friends speak dangerously about trans people. Hateful people saying that these human beings, no different from you and I aside from making a choice for their own happiness weren’t allowed to be happy. Why?

Rest assured, I deleted a lot of people that day.

Ari and V are one of the happiest couples I know. Colorful, diverse, constantly smiling.
The only difference between a typical relationship I’d engage in myself and the one that V and Ari share is that would not cover myself in glitter… Not that there’s anything wrong with glitter.

Wait… Yes there is. You can’t get that shit off.
But that has nothing to do with anything.
Glitter is just a mess.
To me.
Not them.
Obviously.

The only difference between you and Ari worth noting are his scars. I’m not talking about the physical ones, but the emotional ones that the nation is trying to drag through his tough skin. Think of what he’s faced, what he’s continuously facing, just to live the life he deserves.

Please remember to think twice before you spread hatred. You could be ruining someone else’s life, their happiness, their lover’s happiness. I can’t imagine working with V and not hearing Ari in the background screaming for his future wife to continue to pursue her dream.

Trans lives still matter.
Trans lives will always matter.
Never Forget.
I stand with Trans people.
I stand with the LGBTQ+* community.
You should too.
We’re people too.

Mr. And Mrs. Neko // Chicago Boudoir Photographer

My favorite part of being a Chicago boudoir photographer is that I encounter a lot of different boudoir sessions. I meet people who want boudoir shoots for confidence, for expression, for their lover, and with their lover. I don’t get to do too many couple’s boudoir shoots but when I do, they tend to go a long way. I love getting to see different people bring a different message to the art… Something in the way their body moves or their eyes stare makes every single boudoir session just a little bit different.

This particular session is one that I hold very dear to me. So many people are afraid to admit that their sexual lifestyle liberates them. There are many different forms of liberation. This particular session focuses on the consent of a woman to be constrained or controlled. Disclaimer: The themes discussed in this article are unsuitable for anyone under 18. Read at your own risk.

When a man speaks to you,
how does he speak to you?
Does he speak with his eyes?
Does he speak with his lips?

When he touches you,
does he touch you with his hands?
or does he touch you with his soul?

When he looks into your eyes..
Is he looking at you?
Or is he looking through you?
Does he see you for all that you are
Does he see you for all that you’re worth?

Honey,
What if I told you that you could have both? Have you ever been liberated by the feeling that you are in control of the way that you are controlled. Your mother taught you to be strong, your father taught you to submit, but you felt as though you could find comfort in both?

How many times have your friends told you that taking a walk on the dark side was wrong? How many times have you felt bound by your lifestyle until the moment you fell into his arms, and heard his voice? Not all darkness is binding and not all bindings are prison. Sometimes, there is balance in releasing inhibitions and giving into something you can’t dare explain.

A woman is a powerful and beautiful creature. She can do many things from create life to escape death.. She is the overcomer of oppression and the bringer of joy. When a woman yields her power to a man, she is not a prisoner. She is a summoner. She brings forth in him his inner King. She is a Queen, and their love is her throne. Next time you are ashamed of the love you share behind closed doors, remember that there is power in liberation.

Kali Neko // + The Team

You’ve seen the amazing Kali Neko here many times before. Most of the time that you’ve seen her, however, she’s been in cosplay. Infamously, she’s been notorious for her Dark Link cosplay which was so much fun to shoot. If you stick around, you’ll get to see some crazy shoots we’ve done together. All you have to do is subscribe to the blog. Additionally, you could follow her on Instagram, pledge your support on Patreon, or like her on Facebook.

Her makeup was done by the amazing Gabbie Johnson.

Brittany and Jake – Valentines Day Photoshoot

Happy Valentine’s Day Week! When Jasemine Denise Photography came into existence, my first clients were Brittany and Jake. Their first session with me was actually around Valentine’s Day, four years ago. I hold the evolution of Brittany and Jacob’s relationship very dear to me because each time it just gets better and better. This session was even better because the fan girl in me couldn’t stop obsessing how they looked like an accidental How To Get Away With Murder cosplay. Can you guess what two characters I shipped in this photoshoot?

Valentine’s Day Photoshoot | Brittany and Jacob

What’d you Think?

Short Session, I know. The love that Brittany and Jake shared never had to be a complicated thing to photograph. You could see every bit of their love in their eyes. For those of you who were sitting here trying to figure out which How To Get Away With Murder characters they were, after much deliberation, we’ve decided that they’re Michaela and Frank.

Do you want a photoshoot with your sweetheart?

I know Valentine’s Day is just about over but that doesn’t mean you can’t get a photoshoot with your partner. You can book your own photoshoot with Jasemine Denise Photography here and if you donate to JDP’s Patreon, you can win a free photoshoot!

Secret Engagement: Raymond and Gabbie

I love love. I really don’t think I tell you guys enough how much love makes me giggle inside. You can only imagine how excited I am that I get to be a part of things that involve love. So when my good friend Raymond came to me about surprising Gabbie, his now fiance with her ring, I got way excited. Like… Over 9,000 watts of “OMG YASSS!” You guys ready for the cutest first secret engagement I’ve shot of 2016?

Secret Engagement: Gabbie and Raymond

It was the morning of Anime Central, the very first day. Raymond had agreed to get Gabbie up early in the morning for her to prepare herself for a photoshoot. What made this cute is that Raymond is never the one to initiate a photoshoot. He’s always giggling and being silly because that’s who he is naturally. Today, he was all smiling and cooperating because he knew that this was the day that there was something more.

On the flipside, someone was a little more on the silly side.

In seconds, Ray had disappeared to “give Gabbie a couple shots by herself.”

Gabbie and Raymond - Engagement Photoshoot-35

If you guys didn’t know already.. Gabbie is a master makeup artist. I did a Fan Girl Friday on her a while back. Her pinup looks are too DIE for. You can check the rest of her looks out on Facebook and Instagram.  So anyway, Raymond comes back out.. tells Gabbie to close her eyes and when she does, he slowly gets down on one knee. I’m telling you guys, this secret engagement gets so much more precious so quickly.

You know what else, guys? I had to spoil the ending but… She said yes!!

Gabbie and Raymond Paige- Secret Engagement

Isn’t that beautiful! Crossing my fingers for her to change her mind on me not being her photographer just because I’m also a bridesmaid in her wedding! I couldn’t be more proud of Raymond for tying the knot.

Want Your Own Secret Engagement?

Time to share this post on your significant other’s Facebook wall and nudge them violently as you give them the hint hint face! Like I said, I love love and I’ve been hanging on to some GORGEOUS photos that I’ll be releasing all summer to really get you in the mood to love love as well. If you’re reading this and you actually want to book your own secret engagement, slide on over to my website and place an inquiry. I want… no, I NEED to be your photographer for something so great!

Spencer & Janet | Fall Mini Session | Chicago Photographer

Note: Before we even start, I’d like to say happy  belated birthday to Spencer! Yesterday was his birthday and I’ve waited since last year to release this shoot with him and his lovely girlfriend who is also a Chicago photographer. Spencer is one of the most kind and genuine people I’ve ever met. He’s also the creator of Heavy Horns, a custom battle jacket collection. (He made my black and purple jacket.) Continue Reading

Kage and Saint // Chicago Boudoir Session

Passion is not transparent.

There aren’t too many sessions that I get genuinely emotional about but this one is one of them. When I announced my first boudoir session booking ever, Saint was one of the first women to respond. She was eager and being a modeling duo alongside her boyfriend, she wanted to share this first with him. Truthfully, I didn’t know what to expect hosting a Chicago boudoir session. I wanted everyone to feel comfortable. Kage was a bit uneasy and naturally, I suggested backing out immediately. Yet, he said no. He wanted to share this with his girlfriend.

Engagement Session – Damon and Reiko

My first engagement session of the year and this one probably the most special.

Damon and Reiko are my favorite couple for so many reasons. For one, Damon is in the service and somehow was blessed enough to be stationed just a mere three hours away from his beautiful girlfriend. Reiko is a professional model who is known for her provocative poses and proof that when it comes to “size”, the industry isn’t all about the size zeros. How did I meet this gorgeous couple? Reiko flew me down to Florida for her birthday and there we discussed their plans for Chicago and how they wanted to squeeze a shoot in with me before they left. Once I stood in the room with them both again, I realized what made them so special in my eyes. They were a power couple.

What do I mean when I say power couple.. Okay, do you remember “My Good Thang“, by Pretty Willie? I know, throwback right! This is that song personified. They are equal strength, equal hard work, equal independence. I can’t stress enough how over the time I’ve known them, I’ve been beyond impressed. To me, they are like king and queen. There’s no “president and first lady” because they’re both of equal hard work and devotion to both their crafts and one another.

Personally, I always try to refrain from saying things like this, but at this moment, I personally can’t help it. This is what every couple out there should be striving for. The kind of relationship where you can love one another just as much as you can love yourself is a remarkable, inspirational, beautiful phenomenon that radiated off of Damon and Reiko even long after they left the session. This is a couple that games together, gets decked out together, vacations together, cries together, wakes up to alarms together… You do it, they’re capable. They even have matching phones!

So when it came to shooting, we agreed that the style would be a unique one. It had to portray everything from their “Us against the world” attitude to their royal respect for one another. While Reiko was used to being in front of the camera, Damon had originally came off as a bit camera shy but after a few photos were taken, he was completely immersed in the passion of his girlfriend and had become more than comfortable in front of the camera. We even got him to laugh a lot!

It cannot go without saying that the lovely dress that Reiko is wearing is actually from one of my favorite Florida based stores Ravens And Rockers. (They have an online store that I spend far too much time on staring at.)

After the shoot, to show my appreciation for them being so amazing, I jumped into a few pictures and I don’t know.. I think they like me!

But what have you been up to Jasemine?!

Well, as this blog is being written, I’m on a bus to Lansing to shoot my first drag queen photoshoot with the fabulous St. Lucia and a photoshoot with my tattoo artist and her gorgeous son Javier. Lots and lots coming to JDcom in terms of content. Personally, after Anime Central, I thought I was done and dead for a while but while I haven’t been shooting too much, I’ve been working a lot on behind the scenes stuff!

Make sure to check back for that, and to subscribe to the weekly email so you can get the scoop and see more beautiful pictures of beautiful people.

Until then, this photographing, mohawk-having, fashion-loving, woman is outtie!

xo.
