WARRIOR GRRL | SKG Designs

[dropcap]I[/dropcap] know, I know. I just posted about SKG Designs this week, with my Punk Storm shoot but the new collection just dropped and I’m excited! This doubles as a ClaustroClothic, let’s call it 33.5 because I’ve got another look coming that will be the other .5 of that 33, but that’s not what we’re here for! We’re here to celebrate that this Isabel skirt I’m rocking in this shoot made the WARRIOR collection SKG Designs dropped today!

Fun fact: This photoshoot is a part of the warrior series. Read about the group warrior origin, and the special CC outtake.

Warrior Grrrl | SKG Designs
Photos by: Ray Collins

The corridor is dark as my shoes step lightly, and my skirt swishes in the wind. I never dreamt that long after the apocalypse, long after our group has divided, reproduced and keep in touch in the new world order that we found that I would be once again ready and preparing for any sort of war. Many of my friends have asked, “Why did you fight? Why are you always prepared for battle?” My answer was simple.

There’s always a war to be fought.
I don’t stand for myself.
I stand for those who cannot fight.

There’s a rustle. In the midst of my self reflection, I forgot about the dangers lurking around me. Luckily, I’m always ready for war…

Even when I’m not fighting, I’m resting and waiting…

You  never know when darkness is about to strike…

The new Warrior Line from SKG just dropped about an hour ago and you can use the code ‘JasemineDenise’ to get yourself a discount. Just in case you have no clue what to get, I’ll give you the play by play of what I’m wearing in this photoshoot. Especially since, it’s technically a ClaustroClothic.

The Isabel Skirt .

Honestly, I have a totally separate blog coming because it’s so easy to make looks with this skirt. The material of it seriously just flows and I vibe with it so much!

Last but not Least, What Inspired this Outfit:

Harley Quinn Suicide Squad heels

I was like a year late to the Suicide Squad and I skipped straight to the extended edition. Aside from jumping on the band wagon of being probably one of 7 people in the country who didn’t fully hate Jared Leto’s performance, I could not get my eye of Harley’s shoes! So much so that I bought them from Amazon and that’s what prompted me to put this look together. I wanted something unique from my last Warrior outfit which was much more Tank Girl inspired.

That’s it!

ClaustroClothic #34: Girl Gang

[dropcap]G[/dropcap]irl gang, girl gang! It’s not secret that I want to start a girl gang with myself and all of the powerful women of the world. It’s even less secret, wearing it as a statement! ClaustroClothic #34: Girl Gang. There’s a video teaser that goes along with this because Ray has been getting deeply invested in his original passion of video again.

ClaustroClothic #34: Girl Gang

What inspired this look?

I don’t wear t-shirts too often. I feel like it’s always limited the perspective of clothing. There’s little to no durability and it’s hard to coordinate but sometimes, I make exceptions. T-shirts are like my bold statements. When you’re writing and you wanna emphasize something, you capitalize, boldface, and italicize the important things. It’s like saying “Hey, look at me.” T-shirts are like my personal way of boldly defining my personality. For instance, if you see me walking around with a Guns N’ Roses t-shirt on, it’s safe to say you can chat me up about the bassline of Rocket Queen, and I’ll start fan girling. It’s all in the look.

Get yourself a Girl Gang t-shirt: white // black // pink

Something Old, Something New.

Girl Gang

You’ve seen my shoes. The moment I got the shirt, I ventured back in my head to a ClaustroClothic past, and was like “Where are those shoes. I need to be wearing them for this look. Even despite having changed my hair, red and black is always something that stays constant in my wardrobe. I think if I started a girl gang, that would be the colors. Badass women (all women including trans women and women of color) rocking powerful colors and proudly walking around in their heeled boots.

The watch is a new thing. I’ve been trying to rock watches not for sophisticated reasons but because I’m trying to become less and less involved in my phone as time passes. Girl gang goals are to stay present when your girls are dishing on some iconic secrets. I don’t know about you but my MAIN reason for checking my phone is typically to see the time. As soon as I catch sight of it, I start scrolling through my notifications and then in seconds… I’m no longer present.

girl gang

What’s your favorite part of this outfit?

Girl. I have an SKG Designs item on for almost every single outfit I’ve worn this summer so far. These leg garters though? Spiked, studded, amazing! They’re leather and they’re strong. I’ve got pretty decently sized thighs and most leg garters either squeeze my thighs too hard or fall off. I vibe with them so much, and it’s already obvious I love SKG. I even have a discount code “JasemineDenise” that you can use to get discounts on things you buy.

Would you join the Girl Gang?

Seriously! I wanna know! We’re stylish, we’re badass and we’re coming to a city near you. Would you join the Girl Gang? We can make cool videos like this one and the slow motion version of this that’s chilling on my Instagram! If you’re ever in the mood to peruse my daily outfit looks, feel free to scroll through my tumblr tag for daily outfit inspiration! It gets updated daily.

ClaustroClothic #35: Goth Summer Fashion

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he summer is coming! The most heard complaint I get is about goth summer fashion. People are always trying to figure out how to keep wearing the “I only wear black” aesthetic in the summer time. I’m a strong believer in the half naked and almost famous mentality so this ClaustroClothic, I’m bringing you a little look into my goth summer fashion looks!

ClaustroClothic #35: Goth Summer Fashion
Photography by: Ray Collins

Note: Most of my outfit comes from Discovery ClothingI’ve been searching Amazon left and right for a bralette that has that cute crushed look. Haven’t yet. If you’re in the Chicagoland area, there are tons of Discovery stores throughout the city! As I’m typing this, I just realized that they now have an online store.

What inspired this outfit?

Summer fashion is already hard enough. The seasons change and suddenly, you’ve got a whole new wardrobe. I wanted to bring something that says “Hey, I’m warm but also I’ve still got some sex appeal underneath all this darkness!” Goth summer fashion is hard when you still have this concept of black is the hottest color, but literally and fashionably.

How’d you Feel When You put it on?

I was nervous. The combination between these cute stockings that Noodlez gave me that I immediately put a run in because my thighs don’t fit stockings, and the high waist bikini bottom shorts was an interesting combination. At the time that I was doing this session, it was still spring. It was about 50 degrees outside so I couldn’t just run out in the shorts by themselves so I put on stockings underneath. It took a while of getting comfortable, spinning around, stretching my legs for me to get to a point where it didn’t look strange.

What part of the outfit was the best deal?

I’m probably going to be bragging about this find for the rest of my life. I had originally had  a pink version of the lace top. I loved it, without a doubt. Yet, I knew they had to have it in black. I went to store after store until eventually one day, I found it. Perfectly in my size and everything. I bought it immediately. No hesitation.

That’s all for now! Tell me how you’re keeping the spirit of being in the dark alive this summer!

ClaustroClothic #36: Pretty in Pink – Alternative Fashion

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he weather’s finally breaking but just before it does, let me give you one more winter look! I remember when I first starting getting into alternative fashion and I only had one pink item in my whole closet. Two years ago, I bought my first pair of pink shoes and did my first ClaustroClothic with a pink dark look.  Looking back, I’ve matured a lot from then to now. I mean, for one I wear a lot more leather. Like a lot more. So, bringing back the spirit of putting together pink and punk, here’s ClaustroClothic #36… Pretty in Pink, the alternative fashion version.

Kinky Girly x Jasemine Denise Photography

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]’ve done a couple different photoshoots commemorating the amazing handmade designs of Ohio native Justina. Her company, Kinky Girly which was established back in 2013 quickly caught my attention through Etsy and before I knew it, half of the entire 2016 collection was in my closet. So what happens when you take two companies ran by two boss babes and put them in one desolate town with three models… Let’s find out.

Kinky Girly x Jasemine Denise Photography
Desolate in Detroit

shop-kinky-girly-jasemine-denise-photography-desolate-in-detroit-9

The ride to Detroit to meet up with Justina was one to remember. Four rad babes bunked up in the backseat singing along to music and fangirling over each other. It was the type of road trip I’d always dreamt of. I was still trying to wrap my brain around it. Just weeks before, I was shooting the idea of meeting up for a shoot with the owner of this rad company Kinky Girly and now here we were. Approaching Detroit, we didn’t have much of a plan. I knew of a place but I was nervous. After we met up with Justina and took a mini adventure around the city, we found ourselves at the Heidelberg Projects of Detroit.. or as I like to call it.. The land of the desolate. Meet the dangerous girls inside…

Meet Erin aka the “Lily”

Have you ever watched CryBaby? For whatever reason, ever since my first photoshoot with Erin.. I’ve always pictured her growing up to be Ramona Rickettes. She got spunk, she’s got guts and she’s got attitude! Clad in mesh, leather and pasties.. Erin wore the Lily chest harness, Lily thigh garter belt, and Leather O Ring Belt.

erin-shop-kinky-girly-jasemine-denise-photographyerin-shop-kinky-girly-jasemine-denise-photography erin-and-ingrid-shop-kinky-girly-jasemine-denise-photography

Erin comes with a handy dandy sidekick too…

Saint Mortis aka Selene

You’ve seen Saint Mortis, aka the Rock N Roll Queen do everything on this website. She helped fight the apocalypse, she did her first couple boudoir, and she was actually the first one of all of us to model Shop Kinky Girly gear. Now she’s back and darker than ever. She’s wearing the Selene Chest Harness and Selene Body Cage Garter Belt. Both items are made of leather.

Kali aka the “Purple Goddess”

You can recognize Kali from all the darkest cosplays, from Cat Woman to Dark link. I guess you can see that she summons the darkness with her. That’s why she’s rocking the purple pentagram harness.  It’s even said that the jewel choker around her neck can help summon the darkness.

Jasemine-Denise aka Leona?!?!

Yeah, that’s right! Your favorite photographer boss babe may have tried to do the ultimate photo bomb and actually landed herself into the shoot! Hahaha, just kidding. I definitely asked! I’m rocking the Leona Harness, and Leona Garter Belt which I loved so much I had to save up to purchase shortly after the shoot. Believe it or not, every piece of Shop Kinky Girly gear is adjustable so it was able to fit even my tiny waist. (There’s a Leona collar too that is gorgeous, but I have an obsession with mine and wouldn’t take it off)

+ Bonus +

Detroit was so much fun. Justina and I have most definitely taken a liking to each other’s art. I mean just look at our matching hair and chokers. 😀 That being said, you’re going to see a lot more photoshoots featuring Shop Kinky Girly gear because it seems like the brand took off SO fast. I blinked and all my friends were rocking it and I LOVE THAT! So stay tuned, because there might be something buzzing around Christmas coming soon!

ClaustroClothic #37: Black Sheep – Alternative Fashion

[dropcap]A[/dropcap]merica may or may not have made an ass out of themselves this month. I’m not one to get political almost ever, but electing Donald Trump as president really felt like a dead era. To make matters a bit worse, one of my closest friends and models Saint Mortis moved to Vegas. Anyone who knew us knew that we were close. That was my daughter. So these past few weeks have been a bit of mourning for me. I wasn’t ready to jump head first into creative newer alternative fashion looks. I mean, it really felt like a dark time…

ClaustroClothic #37 embraces that darkness.

ClaustroClothic #37: Black Sheep
Alternative Fashion - Jasemine Denise Photography

Alternative Fashion curated and modeled by Jasemine-Denise

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he last thing I was thinking about the morning after Trump won president was alternative fashion. Still, I had to get dressed. I needed to tell myself that this was reality. This is what I needed to remember this day… To move on… To continue to fight and to refuse to let him win. This is what I wore November 9th, 2016.

What inspired this outfit:

I was in a dark place when I created this outfit. It was morning, I had learned that Donald Trump had won the presidential debate and I still had to get up and do normal things. Go to breakfast, go to work, live life… My friends and family, particularly the ones in the LGBT+, POC, and women’s community were in mourning. My friend had to tell her students what had happened… Alternative fashion or anything of the sort was the last thing on my mind. Still, I had to get up… and wear my sadness on my sleeve.

What was the best part of this outfit?

jasemine-denise-alternative-fashion

The first thing that I saw when getting out of bed to put together this outfit was the purse my dear friend gave me on my final visit to see her before she started her journey. I have countless bags, but this one… This one was special.

What Part of the Outfit was the Most Challenging?

Bringing light into this outfit was the hardest. It was hard not to dress like a funeral. Our nation had just witnessed a tragedy and I couldn’t be more sad. Yet I knew that if I didn’t throw a little color into my outfit, a little light… I’d probably continue to feel that darkness all day.

jasemine-denise-alternative-fashion-9

What did I learn from this?

Hearing that Trump will be our next president was the like the death of me. November 9th 2016 is the day that I rose up. I didn’t rise up with fear not for the state of my safety as a POC but for all the lives I’m about to wreck making sure our voices are heard. Our struggles and oppression will not be silenced. It isn’t a game just because Trump won. We did not lose. This will only make us stronger and our voices louder. This cannot get to us. This should only make us stronger. This election means that a lot of people are going to try and break us, but they’re gonna fail. Miserably. I wear this darkness not as a mourning but as a warning that in dark times, we only get greater. The gold (that small bit of light) is royalty.

This queen reclaimed her throne…

ClaustroDIY #38.5: DIY Guns N Roses BodySuit

[dropcap]Y[/dropcap]ou know the feels are real when you don’t just wear a band tee but you make yourself a Guns N Roses bodysuit. Welcome to the JUNGLE BABY, you’re gonna DIY!  Okay that was a little corny but I can promise you that this photoshoot featuring a DIY Guns N Roses bodysuit I made myself is not. In celebration of the AXL/DC phenomenon, I couldn’t resist showing off my fan girl in style! If  you have no idea what AXL/DC is and you’re a GNR fan, check this Youtube link out and get with it! (and yes that is the full version. You’re welcome.)

Alright, you guys ready?

ClaustroDIY is a special edition of ClaustroClothic featuring an item I may have created myself. Keep in mind, I’m no professional. My DIYs are hand sewn and this one’s no exception.

ClaustroDiy: Guns N Roses Bodysuit

DIY Guns and Roses Body Suit - Jasemine Denise - Afropunk-18

How did I make it?

I bought the Guns and Roses from Target for about $14. I didn’t really shop around for bad ass GNR shirt because I didn’t want any pressure my first time. I wanted it to perfectly, and to be honest… It wasn’t easy. The leather trim is devised from an old pair of pants and I bought the studs from Michael’s. I had no set plan in stone for this. I just knew. Shirt. Bodysuit. Let’s do it. I remember like getting some paper from a sticky note and just started drawing it out, ideas, measurements, etc.

That’s something I’ve never really had to do in the past with making vests so this was a trial and error for me. Nonetheless, I drove like a bat out of hell to Target and picked up the first GNR shirt I could find promising myself that if it went well.. I would be back.

What was the hardest part?

The bottom of it. The only thing I regret is not trying to measure the most important part of the bodysuit. It’s a tussle with trying to make sure that the snaps are all aligned in a way that you can click it in comfortably. It also is note-worthy that if you’re body shy like me, it’s a real struggle to try to figure out how much butt is too much butt. I watched a lot of tutorials before just deciding to wing it, so I know that next time I do yet another Guns N’ Roses Bodysuit, I’m gonna eye my measurements.

I also sewed myself into the suit and had to cut myself out of it. Don’t ask.DIY Guns and Roses Body Suit - Jasemine Denise - Afropunk-4DIY Guns and Roses Body Suit - Jasemine Denise - Afropunk-5

DIY Guns and Roses Body Suit - Jasemine Denise - Afropunk-6

Where / How would I wear this?

Uh.. where wouldn’t you?! Okay, let’s not not get too cheeky. A bodysuit can attract the wrong types of crowds although I’d wear it to a concert of a festival. The summer’s coming up and it’s getting to a point where it is perfectly okay to wear something comfortable. Unfortunately, not all spots allow such delicacies so it can be paired with a dope pair of shorts and a leather jacket. (Jacket is optional but the shorts make this look)

DIY Guns and Roses Body Suit - Jasemine Denise - Afropunk-29

AND, if you’re a fly girl… Get your nails did. Mine were done up all fancy that way by Saint Mortis, who is now working on very creative nails here in Chicago. So if you live here and you ask her nicely enough, she might hook you up!

DIY Guns N Roses Body Suit - Jasemine Denise - Afropunk-41

Which is my favorite Guns member?

I’m a sucker for the original band. Like the original before Steven wasn’t the drummer anymore. Admittedly, Duff is swoon worthy but Slash is what I really came into the band-dom (Like fandom but more fancier) for. I stayed for Axl. I know everyone has their differences with him but I just can’t get over the way he can make his voice sound like the missing link you’ve been searching your whole life for.

Where can I get one of these?

I swear that eventually I’m going to open a store of original designs but right now.. I can tell you that you are going to need two sew on snaps,  your own band tee, at least 50 studs (I used about 50 nailhead studs) and whatever else you want to make it fancy. If you specifically want a Guns N Roses bodysuit, feel free to click the ish below and GET YOU SOME!

Saint Mortis x Kinky Girly

[dropcap]It’s[/dropcap] been a while, hasn’t it? I’ve done a bit of touring, went to Cleveland, got two new tattoos and got to shoot some amazing things. Truth be told, I didn’t think I’d be writing this blog post right now. I thought I’d be writing it Friday when it’s the regular day of fan girling but I couldn’t wait. I just had to show you guys Kinky Girly. Wait. It’s not how it sounds. Kinky Girly makes these amazing harnesses and leg garters of an awesome price with even awesomer craftsmanship. (Can you believe awesomer isn’t a word?)

So, I called up one of my favorite models Saint Mortis and said, “Hey. Let’s do something kinky girly!” Five minutes into shooting, I knew I picked the right one. You guys ready?

Let’s stop right here and set a disclaimer: Neither the model nor I were paid or told to endorse Shop Kinky Girly in anyway. We just saw it, I loved it and I said “Hey, we should shoot in this dope stuff and of course Saint said: OKAY!”

I first found Kinky Girly on Etsy, and I couldn’t believe their prices honestly. There are so many different harness companies out there who are literally charging triple what Kinky Girly is for half of the quality. You can get a pair of these exact leg garters directly through this link. Tell them Saint and Jasemine sent you just because it sounds really cool!

ClaustroClothic Punk Fashion : Top 5 Daily Looks.

[dropcap]E[/dropcap]very now and again.. more like everyday, I’ll piece together a look for the day. If you guys have been to the blog before, you know that punk fashion is one of my favorite things. Sometimes, it’s very in the moment though. I’ll be too tired to whip out the camera or too in a rush so I’ll simply post the look to Tumblr in the form of a gifset. Today I wanted to show you some of the best looks you haven’t seen! Not only that, I’m going to tell you where you can get some of the pieces to put together an outfit like this yourself! If you’re really in love with them.. Don’t forget to follow me on Tumblr for more!

All gifsets created by me and are property of Jasemine Denise Photography.

1.) Riot Grrrl

I pieced this outfit together while creating a vest which you’ll get to see coming soon to JDcom. The plan was to combine a girly aspect with a biker punk look to emphasize the fact that women can be punk and pink at the same time. The challenge with the outfit was not overdoing the ‘punk’ side. They had to be even so eventually it boiled down to using the ‘punk aspect’ (studs, collars, etc) as the accessory pieces and to keep the pink the main front.

Get yourself a pair of those nifty leather gloves here, the collar or the pink skirt here.

2.) Bike Belt Punk

At one point, I got an amazing belt right after getting another amazing belt so I wore them both at the same time. I love this look because it had like a biker girl feel to it without overdoing the metal/leather. It was also the first warm day in Chicago so I whipped out the fishnets and high waists and was very pleased overall with the way it turned out!

Get yourself a black studded belt.

3.) Kinky Girl

That underbust corset is my go to for creating dark but flowing looks. It is literally one of my absolute favorites. Speaking of favorites, this look was created based off the harness I bought from Kinky Girl not too long ago. Surprisingly, it’s my first harness and it fits so snugly that I already know I’m going back to KG for my next one.

Get my harness or that amazing underbust corset.

4.) Pixie Goth

This one’s not so much “punk fashion” but I couldn’t make a outfit master post without a Trish’s Hood Original. The top, my favorite corset top, is from Nasty Gal which I’m always fan-girling to you guys about. (I even did a full ClaustroClothic for a totally different look involving the same shirt.) I wanted to include something a little darker in this post without overdoing it. It’s funny because while the hood was handmade and the top was bought full price, the corset and the skirt are definitely secondhand!

Get yourself a a Nasty Gal sheer lace top like mine.

and finally number

5.) Jailhouse grunge

love this outfit. The best part about it is that it was nothing to put together. Five minutes before piecing it together, I decided very last minute that I wanted to pull of the “distressed look”, so I grabbed a seam ripper and started butchering the little $5 shirt from Forever 21. The skirt is a vegan leather piece I got from a seller on Depop. The corset is actually mesh and is a waist trainer (although I don’t need it). I made the joke when I posted this outfit that this is what I get for playing Jail House Rock by Elvis and Negative Creep back to back.

Get the corset and the collar!
