ClaustroClothic #35: Goth Summer Fashion

The summer is coming! The most heard complaint I get is about goth summer fashion. People are always trying to figure out how to keep wearing the “I only wear black” aesthetic in the summer time. I’m a strong believer in the half naked and almost famous mentality so this ClaustroClothic, I’m bringing you a little look into my goth summer fashion looks!

Note: Most of my outfit comes from Discovery ClothingI’ve been searching Amazon left and right for a bralette that has that cute crushed look. Haven’t yet. If you’re in the Chicagoland area, there are tons of Discovery stores throughout the city! As I’m typing this, I just realized that they now have an online store.

What inspired this outfit?

Summer fashion is already hard enough. The seasons change and suddenly, you’ve got a whole new wardrobe. I wanted to bring something that says “Hey, I’m warm but also I’ve still got some sex appeal underneath all this darkness!” Goth summer fashion is hard when you still have this concept of black is the hottest color, but literally and fashionably.

How’d you Feel When You put it on?

I was nervous. The combination between these cute stockings that Noodlez gave me that I immediately put a run in because my thighs don’t fit stockings, and the high waist bikini bottom shorts was an interesting combination. At the time that I was doing this session, it was still spring. It was about 50 degrees outside so I couldn’t just run out in the shorts by themselves so I put on stockings underneath. It took a while of getting comfortable, spinning around, stretching my legs for me to get to a point where it didn’t look strange.

What part of the outfit was the best deal?

I’m probably going to be bragging about this find for the rest of my life. I had originally had  a pink version of the lace top. I loved it, without a doubt. Yet, I knew they had to have it in black. I went to store after store until eventually one day, I found it. Perfectly in my size and everything. I bought it immediately. No hesitation.

That’s all for now! Tell me how you’re keeping the spirit of being in the dark alive this summer!

ClaustroClothic #36: Pretty in Pink – Alternative Fashion

The weather’s finally breaking but just before it does, let me give you one more winter look! I remember when I first starting getting into alternative fashion and I only had one pink item in my whole closet. Two years ago, I bought my first pair of pink shoes and did my first ClaustroClothic with a pink dark look.  Looking back, I’ve matured a lot from then to now. I mean, for one I wear a lot more leather. Like a lot more. So, bringing back the spirit of putting together pink and punk, here’s ClaustroClothic #36… Pretty in Pink, the alternative fashion version.

Kinky Girly x Jasemine Denise Photography

I‘ve done a couple different photoshoots commemorating the amazing handmade designs of Ohio native Justina. Her company, Kinky Girly which was established back in 2013 quickly caught my attention through Etsy and before I knew it, half of the entire 2016 collection was in my closet. So what happens when you take two companies ran by two boss babes and put them in one desolate town with three models… Let’s find out.

Desolate in Detroit

The ride to Detroit to meet up with Justina was one to remember. Four rad babes bunked up in the backseat singing along to music and fangirling over each other. It was the type of road trip I’d always dreamt of. I was still trying to wrap my brain around it. Just weeks before, I was shooting the idea of meeting up for a shoot with the owner of this rad company Kinky Girly and now here we were. Approaching Detroit, we didn’t have much of a plan. I knew of a place but I was nervous. After we met up with Justina and took a mini adventure around the city, we found ourselves at the Heidelberg Projects of Detroit.. or as I like to call it.. The land of the desolate. Meet the dangerous girls inside…

Meet Erin aka the “Lily”

Have you ever watched CryBaby? For whatever reason, ever since my first photoshoot with Erin.. I’ve always pictured her growing up to be Ramona Rickettes. She got spunk, she’s got guts and she’s got attitude! Clad in mesh, leather and pasties.. Erin wore the Lily chest harness, Lily thigh garter belt, and Leather O Ring Belt.

Erin comes with a handy dandy sidekick too…

Saint Mortis aka Selene

You’ve seen Saint Mortis, aka the Rock N Roll Queen do everything on this website. She helped fight the apocalypse, she did her first couple boudoir, and she was actually the first one of all of us to model Shop Kinky Girly gear. Now she’s back and darker than ever. She’s wearing the Selene Chest Harness and Selene Body Cage Garter Belt. Both items are made of leather.

Kali aka the “Purple Goddess”

You can recognize Kali from all the darkest cosplays, from Cat Woman to Dark link. I guess you can see that she summons the darkness with her. That’s why she’s rocking the purple pentagram harness.  It’s even said that the jewel choker around her neck can help summon the darkness.

Jasemine-Denise aka Leona?!?!

Yeah, that’s right! Your favorite photographer boss babe may have tried to do the ultimate photo bomb and actually landed herself into the shoot! Hahaha, just kidding. I definitely asked! I’m rocking the Leona Harness, and Leona Garter Belt which I loved so much I had to save up to purchase shortly after the shoot. Believe it or not, every piece of Shop Kinky Girly gear is adjustable so it was able to fit even my tiny waist. (There’s a Leona collar too that is gorgeous, but I have an obsession with mine and wouldn’t take it off)

+ Bonus +

Detroit was so much fun. Justina and I have most definitely taken a liking to each other’s art. I mean just look at our matching hair and chokers. 😀 That being said, you’re going to see a lot more photoshoots featuring Shop Kinky Girly gear because it seems like the brand took off SO fast. I blinked and all my friends were rocking it and I LOVE THAT! So stay tuned, because there might be something buzzing around Christmas coming soon!

ClaustroClothic #37: Black Sheep – Alternative Fashion

America may or may not have made an ass out of themselves this month. I’m not one to get political almost ever, but electing Donald Trump as president really felt like a dead era. To make matters a bit worse, one of my closest friends and models Saint Mortis moved to Vegas. Anyone who knew us knew that we were close. That was my daughter. So these past few weeks have been a bit of mourning for me. I wasn’t ready to jump head first into creative newer alternative fashion looks. I mean, it really felt like a dark time…

ClaustroClothic #37 embraces that darkness.

Alternative Fashion - Jasemine Denise Photography

Alternative Fashion curated and modeled by Jasemine-Denise

The last thing I was thinking about the morning after Trump won president was alternative fashion. Still, I had to get dressed. I needed to tell myself that this was reality. This is what I needed to remember this day… To move on… To continue to fight and to refuse to let him win. This is what I wore November 9th, 2016.

What inspired this outfit:

I was in a dark place when I created this outfit. It was morning, I had learned that Donald Trump had won the presidential debate and I still had to get up and do normal things. Go to breakfast, go to work, live life… My friends and family, particularly the ones in the LGBT+, POC, and women’s community were in mourning. My friend had to tell her students what had happened… Alternative fashion or anything of the sort was the last thing on my mind. Still, I had to get up… and wear my sadness on my sleeve.

What was the best part of this outfit?

The first thing that I saw when getting out of bed to put together this outfit was the purse my dear friend gave me on my final visit to see her before she started her journey. I have countless bags, but this one… This one was special.

What Part of the Outfit was the Most Challenging?

Bringing light into this outfit was the hardest. It was hard not to dress like a funeral. Our nation had just witnessed a tragedy and I couldn’t be more sad. Yet I knew that if I didn’t throw a little color into my outfit, a little light… I’d probably continue to feel that darkness all day.

What did I learn from this?

Hearing that Trump will be our next president was the like the death of me. November 9th 2016 is the day that I rose up. I didn’t rise up with fear not for the state of my safety as a POC but for all the lives I’m about to wreck making sure our voices are heard. Our struggles and oppression will not be silenced. It isn’t a game just because Trump won. We did not lose. This will only make us stronger and our voices louder. This cannot get to us. This should only make us stronger. This election means that a lot of people are going to try and break us, but they’re gonna fail. Miserably. I wear this darkness not as a mourning but as a warning that in dark times, we only get greater. The gold (that small bit of light) is royalty.

This queen reclaimed her throne…
