About Me

Don’t get attached to this hair color, I change hair a lot…

“You shouldn’t give up on something you believe in, even if you feel like it betrayed you. You fight the hardest for the things you want the most.” Twisted Illusions p. 41

Name: Jasemine-Denise

Occupation: Professional Photographer and Published Author

Loves: Caffeine, the band Guns N Roses, the musical and movie RENT, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Donald Glover, Childish Gambino, 90s hip hop, 80s punk,  the band Nsync. (Specifically JC *drools), and SKG Designs’s ever growing leather collection.

Hates: Homophobes, anti-feminists and writing her own bios.

Greatest Non-Career Accomplishment to Date: Being able to spit the whole Forget About Dre song without a stutter. (Don’t quote me on this.)

I  wrote the line above for my sophomore novel at a time in my life when I wanted to die. Not superficially… I didn’t want to kill myself but I wanted to banish the part of me who was a “victim”. Who says you couldn’t become a fighter after you’ve been knocked out a thousand times..

Six months after I wrote it, I quit my day job as a karaoke singer at a children’s arcade and Jasemine-Denise was born. Though I’ve spent the majority of my life in Chicago, you couldn’t tell… I travel year round, I still sing karaoke, and although I like “Netflix and Chill”… My real hobby is caffeine and listening to albums in full.

I’m not even thirty yet but I’ve already got stories that will give my grandchildren nightmares. A lot of them are on this blog so… yeah.

(I end most of my sentences with “and yeah”, so you got the special “so yeah.”)

I like long walks on the beach… Wait. No I don’t. I don’t even like long walks to the refrigerator. I like Netflix, chiseled cheekbones, and the possibility of paying someone else to write my bio.
