ClaustroClothic #33: Michaela Pratt – Alternative Fashion

I love doing alternative fashion looks that are inspired renditions of people I’ve looked up to the in the fictional universe. Aside from doing warrior looks and outfits based off 80s hair metal bands, I love getting inspired by fictional characters. One of my favorite characters of the now is Michael Pratt from the show How to Get Away With Murder. Michael is played by the gorgeous Aja Naomi King and god does that character have fire! So today. I pulled together a look based off that character with a little help from an amazing look one of our newest models Laura pulled off.

ClaustroClothic #33: Michael Pratt

Besides Michaela, What Inspired this Outfit?

When I became a business owner, my biggest fear was compromising who I was. I wanted to keep my crazy style and colorful hair so a lot of times, I was finding different ways to stay myself but not to overshadow my business attire. My goal is always to come off edgy yet approachable.

How did this outfit get pieced together?

Like most outfits I pull together, I started with a color palette, of course it was red and black. I really wanted an excuse to wear my Poison Ivy wig outside of my cosplay so I started with that. From there, I added the parasol, dress, shoes and eventually the corset. As a kid, I always wanted a parasol. I felt like you weren’t cool unless you had one. (Laura, our newest model is extremely cool)

The hardest part was making the Michaela look more alternative. Sure, you could pull on a dress and some wingtip heels and say, “I made the look edgy,” but what really gave it the click? The corset has these bows on the side that become like “coat tails” when you stretch them out. I suddenly felt like I had a little more a burlesque feel to this look.

What’s the best part of this outfit?

Definitely the versatility of bringing that parasol in. I don’t typically utilize a lot of accessories. Maybe a purse here, and a some jewelry there but this felt new to me. I felt confident carrying it.

What do you think?

Did I pull off a decent Michaela look?

Do you think I could get away with murder?

Hell, do you own a Parasol? Comment and let me know! Also, follow me on Instagram for more looks!

Lookbook: SKG Designs

V is actually rocking a Dollskill dress underneath a fully adjustable Tempest Harness from SKG Designs. Around her neck is a Leona collar  thus completing a sort of pastel goth look that almost contrasts the colorful babydoll dress she’s rocking. Sometimes it’s not just about the dress but the accessories framing the overall aesthetic.

To top it all off, V brought a little extra edge to the look by putting her glasses on. She’s got some unique frames and it really brought a different vibe to the look.

Kali Neko // Published Model – Elizabeth Bathory

I‘m always proud to turn our models into published models. These women have worked so hard to create creative and innovative shoots that get approved by editors in magazines. This particular time, Kali Neko, one of our cosplay models put on her thinking cap. She picked a time, a place, and I brought the bath bomb… Together, we brought the magic.

Kali Neko // Elizabeth Bathory

Featured in Gothesque Issue #51. // Other issues of Gothesque we’ve been published in.

Kali has always been a harbinger of darkness. Somewhere deep in the belly of the beast, there is a succubus and that succubus bathes in the blood of her enemies. that succubus, is Kali.

It is the blood that keeps her safe, the blood that keeps her warm… The blood of the innocent that keeps her whole.
Her eyes glow like the darkness. They flare in the night.  They can see through the darkest of souls
They can find you.

No one is safe.
No one is home.
In the blood she bathes.
In the darkness, she roams.

Beware of the succubus, for she bathes in the blood of the innocent.

Kali is Wearing…

Kali is wearing the Myah Skirt from SKG Designs, and yes. You can use her discount code ‘KaliNeko’  to get yourself one too. We’re so honored to have gotten this Queen published with Gothesque Magazine. Kali has been shooting cosplays with us for almost three years. Her first one published here was Soul Eater, then dark link,  and now this but we’ve got a whole lot more in the vault. Make sure you subscribe to the blog to get your hands on some more Kali!

Gabbie and Raymond | Engagement Photoshoot

My friends are getting married! After seeing Raymond get down on one knee last year, Gabbie and Raymond’s engagement photoshoot has finally come! Like Bri and Jacob, this lovely couple has been like family to me for years. It was my honor to do their engagement photoshoot. Remember: You can book an engagement photoshoot with me anytime by filling out the booking form on my website. Yes, I do travel.

I’ve had the blessing of knowing Gabbie and Raymond personally. They have that type of relationship that I’ve always felt was one to look up to. They’ve got a little bit of everything. Playfulness, humor, love, support, and a pinch of tough love. Over the years, I’ve watched them evolve each other and themselves.

The thing that I really love about Gabbie and Raymond is that neither of them assumed the ‘house spouse’ role. They both go to work, they both take each other on romantic dates and buy gifts, they both look out each other.  As they move on to the next phase of their life together, they will be doing so as a team. A unit and union created out of pure love and devotion to each other’s happiness.

I couldn’t be more proud of them. Seriously.

This time next year, Gabbie and Raymond will be married. Will you?

Jasemine Denise Photography books both weddings and engagement photography sessions. Do you need an engagement photoshoot? You still have time! Head on over to Jasemine Denise Photoraphy and book a session! You can also pledge to our Patreon to score a raffle ticket for a free session

Happily congratulating Gabbie and Raymond again and again. I can’t wait to photograph your wedding!

Super Orange Sunday // Noodlez

Happy Super Orange Sunday! If you haven’t heard of the amazing company Super Orange, based out of Portland Oregon, you’re missing out! If you haven’t checked out Noodlez and her amazing shoots here at JDP, you’re missing out twice. Today I’m here to put you in the know!

Super Orange Sunday // Noodlez

About Noodlez

It’s almost painful how beautiful Noodlez is. While she’s done some of the darkest, craziest shoots yet to be released here at JDP, there’s a side to her that is supremely sweet. So sweet in fact that she became a brand ambassador for Sweet Bitz Apparel shortly after becoming signed with JDP but before that, she was one of the models who were featured in the first Super Orange lookbook!

About Super Orange Co

You’ve seen Super Orange here on the blog before. The super cute apparel has been in a boudoir and on your favorite photographer the moment I announced that we made it into the lookbook. It was a proud day, only coming second best to the day I met the owner of Super Orange himself, Zee. Zee is one amazing guy. Everything he gushes about between the company Instagram and Twitter are tenfold face to face. Good energy. He really makes believe in the brand.

I’ve only ever had one complaint about Super Orange…
The apparel is too cute. TOO CUTE.
This isn’t a joke.

Super Orange differs from other clothing companies because the clothing is printed by the man himself. Every single release is limited and when it’s gone, god it’s gone. The company’s Instagram graciously keeps us eager with timed releases and the getting is always quick. Can you blame them?

What do you think? Was this shoot TOO sweet?

Don’t forget to follow Super Orange Co on Instagram for releases to the shop, and Super Orange Army for all the cute models rocking their gear. Also, follow Noodlez on Facebook and Instagram to see more of her shoots. Lastly, don’t forget to subscribe to the blog to get photoshoots to your inbox the moment they drop!

Till next time

RWBY | Atlanta Cosplayer | Shanice

Atlanta has some amazing cosplayers. I mean, truly amazing. So much so that I’ll be back down there in November for round two, so if you’re in Atlanta, you should book a session. I said all that to say that Shanice is no exception. As a matter of fact, we somehow managed to slay two different cosplay shoots in one day.

RWBY

Shanice | Atlanta Cosplayer

Shanice is amazing. Honestly, she’s a powerful human being. It’s in her stance, it’s in her vibe, and it’s in her smile. There was no doubt in my mind stepping into the backyard of my good friend Pandora’s land that she was about to bring a look to RWBY like non I’d ever seen before.

What’d you think? Shanice made a fantastic RWBY didn’t she?

You can follow this Atlanta cosplayer on Instagram to check out more of her fantastic cosplays and her fantastic natural hair journey!
If you’re in Atlanta in November, you should book a session because Jasemine Denise Photography is definitely coming back!
I had such a great time shooting Shanice and the rest of the gang, I couldn’t resist.
You can also check out the shoot I did with Ebby which fun fact was shot in the same place this session was!

WARRIOR GRRL | SKG Designs

I know, I know. I just posted about SKG Designs this week, with my Punk Storm shoot but the new collection just dropped and I’m excited! This doubles as a ClaustroClothic, let’s call it 33.5 because I’ve got another look coming that will be the other .5 of that 33, but that’s not what we’re here for! We’re here to celebrate that this Isabel skirt I’m rocking in this shoot made the WARRIOR collection SKG Designs dropped today!

Fun fact: This photoshoot is a part of the warrior series. Read about the group warrior origin, and the special CC outtake.

Warrior Grrrl | SKG Designs
Photos by: Ray Collins

The corridor is dark as my shoes step lightly, and my skirt swishes in the wind. I never dreamt that long after the apocalypse, long after our group has divided, reproduced and keep in touch in the new world order that we found that I would be once again ready and preparing for any sort of war. Many of my friends have asked, “Why did you fight? Why are you always prepared for battle?” My answer was simple.

There’s always a war to be fought.
I don’t stand for myself.
I stand for those who cannot fight.

There’s a rustle. In the midst of my self reflection, I forgot about the dangers lurking around me. Luckily, I’m always ready for war…

Even when I’m not fighting, I’m resting and waiting…

You  never know when darkness is about to strike…

SKG Designs | Details >>

The new Warrior Line from SKG just dropped about an hour ago and you can use the code ‘JasemineDenise’ to get yourself a discount. Just in case you have no clue what to get, I’ll give you the play by play of what I’m wearing in this photoshoot. Especially since, it’s technically a ClaustroClothic.

The Isabel Skirt .

Honestly, I have a totally separate blog coming because it’s so easy to make looks with this skirt. The material of it seriously just flows and I vibe with it so much!

Last but not Least, What Inspired this Outfit:

Harley Quinn Suicide Squad heels

I was like a year late to the Suicide Squad and I skipped straight to the extended edition. Aside from jumping on the band wagon of being probably one of 7 people in the country who didn’t fully hate Jared Leto’s performance, I could not get my eye of Harley’s shoes! So much so that I bought them from Amazon and that’s what prompted me to put this look together. I wanted something unique from my last Warrior outfit which was much more Tank Girl inspired.

That’s it!

Don’t forget to to subscribe to the blog so you can see more looks to come, including the other half of this look!

Punk Storm Cosplay // Collaboration

Punk Storm has been a dream of mine since I could first remember. I’m talking before I could even imagine holding a camera would get me as far as it has. When the Queen behind Weave N Luxury, the Queen behind SKG Designs and I all started talking about a collaboration where I’d be in front of the camera, I jumped at the chance to live one of my wildest dreams out.

Punk Storm Cosplay

SKG Designs x Weave N Luxury x Jasemine Denise Photography

The Hair // + Weave N Luxury

The wig to this cosplay was created from 100% human hair by Weave N Luxury. When I said Storm, she just immediately knew where I was going with it. It was crazy. She dyed it so that it had the look specifically and then when I got on set, she styled and cut it right there while it was on my head. Magic!

The Punk Look // + SKG Designs

You can’t be punk storm without having some punk in your outfit.
I contemplated for weeks what would make this look complete. Of course it was almost a no brainer after time. My handmade EST 19xx spiked bra. I’ve been asked for years if I made the bra myself, the answer is yes! Ontop of that is the Selene Harness that I rocked right alongside the Selene waist belt, both leather and handmade from SKG.

The collar is a white leather with a large O ring also created by SKG designs. While it may not be available in white anymore, there is definitely an entire leather collection that can be purchased in either red or black.

Are you digging the Punk Storm Cosplay?

Punk storm has always been a dream of mine! What’s your next cosplay? What’s your dream cosplay? Seriously, tell me in the comments! I’d love to know. Also, remember that you can get a discount over at SKG Designs any time by using the code ‘JasemineDenise’ and if you buy something… You should tag me in a photo of you rocking it on Instagram, because I love love love seeing people rock SKG!

Until next time, don’t forget to subscribe to the blog so you can see more photoshoots of me done by my second shooter Ray, as well as photoshoots of all my models and clients!
